We begin this New Year with dampened enthusiasm and dented optimism. Our happiness is diluted and our peace is threatened by the financial illness that has infected our families, organizations and nations. Everyone is desperate to find a remedy that will cure their financial illness and help them recover their financial health. They expect the financial experts to provide them with remedies, forgetting the fact that it is these experts who created this financial mess.

Every new year, I adopt a couple of old maxims as my beacons to guide my future. This self-prescribed therapy has ensured that with each passing year, I grow wiser and not older. This year, I invite you to tap into the financial wisdom of our elders along with me, and become financially wiser.

* Hard work: All hard work bring a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

* Laziness: A sleeping lobster is carried away by the water current.

* Earnings: Never depend on a single source of income. Let your investments get you a second source of earnings

* Spending: If you buy things you don’t need, you’ll soon sell things you need.

* Savings: Don’t save what is left after spending; spend what is left after saving.

* Borrowings: The borrower becomes the lender’s slave.

* Accounting: It’s no use carrying an umbrella, if your shoes are leaking.

* Auditing: Beware of the little expenses; A small leak can sink a large ship.

* Risk-taking: Never test the depth of the river with both feet. Have an alternate plan ready

* Investments: Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.

I’m certain that those who have already been practicing these principles remain financially healthy. I’m equally confident that those who resolve to start practicing these principles will quickly
regain their financial health.

Let us become wiser and lead a happy, healthy, prosperous and peaceful life.

Happy Birthday Swan

A simple birthday celebration at home with our children and grandchildren. Not all our children were back home as yet because of work, all preparing for the coming Chinese New Year. So we had a simple steamboat dinner and a home-made (self-made by Swan) birthday cake to go with the occasion. Not that we can’t afford to buy one, but she just love to bake so why not bake one for herself.

Singing "happy Birthday"

Singing "happy Birthday"

Singing happy birthday to Grandma, just can’t wait to blow the candles..

Well, that’s the disadvantage of your birthday falling on the eve of Chinese New Year, all are too busy to celebrate with you. Anyway, what’s important is all is well and we are happy and that’s what really matters.

Happy Birthday Swan,

Reliable?

Reliable?

Picture from http://failblog.org/page/2/

Choosing a name for your company can be quite tricky. Of course in some instant, it can’t be avoid but then you become a laughing stalk when it doesn’t live up to it.

Such names should be avoided especially if you are doing a trucking business… You cannot avoid accidents in trucking business, it will happen sooner or later, it’s only a matter of time. I have been in trucking business most of my life and there has never been any one company that I know of that has no accidents before. There are a thousand and one reason for mishaps to occur.  You may have the best drivers in the country but when you share the same road, then you share the same fate.

You just cannot avoid it..

screw china

screw china

Abbreviation should be thought out properly or else it might get confiscated for slandering a country haha

mmm the c must have dropped off

mmm the c must have dropped off

Well I guess when the parents gave him his name, they never thought he would be living in America.

The wooden mouse

The 1st mouse

The 1st mouse

Who would have thought that this little invention of a wooden mouse would invade every household in the whole wide world. And it’s now 40 over years old and has given birth to billions of them in all shape and sizes.

Made by Douglas Engelbart in 1964. The great great grand father of a computer  mouse. It was my childhood dream that one day I will grow up to be a scientist or an inventor but I guess I wasn’t that lucky to see my dreams come true. Now I guess its too late hehe… but I still love to read or watch discovery and I love beyond 2000 but now it’s already beyond 2000 so they have to come up with a new name for the show.

I live in a small village most of my life and in many instants, I always question this and that , why don’t they do this or do that, make it this way or that way and in alot of instants, those inventions came according to what I felt it should be… Inventing is not about how technical or complicated it should be but it’s all about ideas. Using ideas and imagination to convert something beneficial to soceity. When I was a small kid, about 5 years old, I created a speedometer with a milk tin and rubberbands and sticks. Well, I didn’t know how a speedo meter really works at that young age but my imagination and ideas somehow reflects the same idea that the speedo meter functions today. I used wind energy to measure speed hehe.. the faster I ran, the meter read higher when I slow down the meter needle fell… tada.. a speedo meter. What I did was I made one end like a stiff flag and the other side is the needle in opposite sides. The flag will catch the wind and move sideways thereby bending the needle on the other side, the faster I ran the flag would move further from vertical to horizontal as the wind hits the flag and my speedo meter worked.. hehe My dad buys me toys and the next moment, they are all dismantled hehe, I just need to know how it works. Once I dismantled a toy car and made it into a lifting crane and I was able to lift quite heavy things comparitively to the small battery operation motor as I tied a string to the tiny rod. I got the idea one day, while the motor was running and I tried to use my little fingers to stop the rotation but it wouldn’t stop and I realise that wow that is a strong energy that I could use for other purposes.. and tada I created a lifting crane …

I just love creating things…
